Summer Look Contest Entry

This is my contest entry for Sassy Jadore's Summer Look contest. In this contest she gives you the option of doing a make up look or a clothing look. I decided to go for the clothing look as I had an outfit in mind: my Bloch dress and my Aldo shoes, plus my Tom Ford sunnies. My inspiration was the shoe I have from Aldo.

I think the dress is perfect for summer as it's colours portray summer really well: orange, yellow and pink hues, with bold black. The dress itself reminds me of a monarch butterfly, agian something you see often in summer. The colour is very like it! The shoes suit the dress well as the colours are similar and the design is ideal for summer: a slip on heel. The sunglasses go really well with the whole outfit as it's a gold frame with brownish orange lenses. I think it's the ideal outfit for summer as it's cute, fun and a little bit sexy. It keeps you cool while you're looking hot!

Enjoy the photos...

Paris Impersonation Contest Entry

Well, I've just entered myself in Pop Champagne's Paris Impersonation Contest. It was such a fun theme and I loved watching Paris in The Simple Life so how could I not? It wasn't easy finding the right pic, I didn't want to use anything too trashy so I decided on one of her Guess ads. I think it has a touch of class to it.

It was soo hard taking the actual picture! I had to use the self timer, and I only had ten seconds to run to the bed and adjust myself before the camera went off. Plus, I had my son playing in the room and he'd just get up and walk right in front of the camera... just as it was going off! LOL.

I also took a shot of my face to show you the make up I had on, which was basically a lot of eyeliner and a neutral eye and glossy pink lips, just like Paris in the photo. I was lucky I just happened to have a red dress... I've never worn that dress out before so I don't know why I bought it. I guess I knew I'd need it one day!

Anyway, enjoy the photos. Oh, and isn't it sad Michael Jackson has passed away? I loved him as a kid, I always wanted to meet him... and now I'll never get to. RIP MJ.

    Whit's Gold Digga Contest Entry

Here are my top 5 photos for Whitney's Gold Digga Contest. I loved the theme so I decided to enter. Finding the time to do my make up and take photos took ages as I never seem to have any "me" time. I decided on a low key, glam look. To me, a gold digga is a girl who wants a man with money... so she always tries to look classy to get that man. I also took it literally and used gold coloured eyeshadow. Actually I think it's more bronze but that's neither here nor there.

No amount of make up will cover up those damn pimples! You can see them in the photos, even though I was wearing concealer and foundation. Hmm. Time to switch to something more heavy duty, I think! In the last photo you gotta love my big old shnoz!! I hate my nose, it's one of my worst features. Anyway, enjoy the photos! There's more photos to come, as I have two more contests I'd like to enter, so stay tuned for those...

    Hoodies!

I went out today to the Nike warehouse on Smith Street and bought two hoodies. I love hoodies, they're so comfy and cover your body up, which is good for when you're having a fat day. Lately I've been having lots of fat days, even though I'm on a "diet". So I got a white hooded jumper and a navy blue zip hoodie, it didn't cost too much and I absolutely LOVE it! I have a feeling they'll get more wear than my Burberry trench coat this winter, which I kinda feel guilty about as I was bugging the bf to get it for me for my birthday. Isn't it ironic that I'll be wearing a $50 hoodie more than I'll be wearing a $2000 jacket?

Remember those ugly red pimple spots I was talking about on my face? I bought some bio-oil for it, I hope it works! I have noticed my skin is clearing up but the spots are still there which I think looks gross. My period finished a while ago and my face is breaking out less, so I'm guessing the acne is definately due to hormones. I might also use the bio-oil for my stretchmarks from pregnancy, if I can remember to apply it twice daily!

As for my diet, well... It's not really going that great, I haven't been sticking to it. I've had dessert after most of my meals and I'm not eating any less. But I did hop on the scales today and I'm at 58kg (128lbs) so I've lost 2kgs... unless it's all just water. Which I suspect it is as I didn't drink much today! Hmm...

Anyway! Tomorrow I hope to play around with make up and take photos so I can enter some contests. I'm a stay at home mum so you'd think I have lots of time for stuff like that, but between feeding Dante and cleaning the house and keeping him entertained, it is just hard to find the time. I'm lucky if I get to pee alone! So hopefully I'll get some pics up tomorrow. If not, then you'll know I've been a busy mum!

    Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad

I love neutral colours, but this eyeshadow quad doesn't really do it for me. The colour is Smokey Pink... I'm also wearing Revlon Beyond Natural defining eye pencil in dark brown (love it!) and Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara in black (which is crap! Don't get it! The formula is too dry.)

I think the Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad in Smokey Pink is too similar to my own skin colour so it doesn't really stand out. And I was going through my makeup and I've just realised how boring it is! All neutral colours, nothing fun at all. I'm going to have to go shopping soon. Yay!

Oh... and my sons, just because :-) Tony is 6 turning 7 in July and Dante is turning 1 in less than two weeks!

    The State of my Wardrobe

I believe that the state of your house says alot about you. Prior to me moving out of my parents home in 2008, I was a neat freak. Everything had it's place and I just loved having a tidy room. However, since moving into a place of my own, I've let things slide a little and now I just feel so messy! I think it's got something to do with the antidepressants I'm taking (for postnatal depression), which apparently cures OCD. Maybe I had obsessive compulsive disorder and that was why I was so tidy? Hmm!

Here are some pics of the state of my wardrobe. It's not too bad, but I wish I could organize it better and keep it tidy! If and when I get the chance to clean it up, I'll post the new pics too.

The Teenage Years all Over Agian

Yikes, I'm breaking out big time. Six months ago, I had flawless skin. People used to comment on it all the time. Now? I look like I belong in highschool. Actually, when I was in highschool I never had pimples this bad. It's disgusting! They're so red and take over both my cheeks and my chin. I don't know what I can do to make it go away. But I really need to get rid of it because it's getting me down.

I haven't done anything different to my usual skincare regime so I don't understand why I'm breaking out so bad. I think it's due to hormones... I'm still breastfeeding my son, but a couple of months ago I got my period agian. I think that was when my skin started breaking out lots. So how do you get rid of pimples due to hormones? You can't, right? You just have to ride it out.

I've been washing my face carefully, usually twice a day but occasionally only once. Every few days I use an exfoliant and I'm meticulous when it comes to moisterizing. I'm using products that have always got along with my skin. I dab on pimple cream where needed. I'm eating fairly well. So what else can I do to get rid of these pimples? Even though the pimples dry out quickly after I use pimple cream on it, I find that it leaves a red spot which doesn't seem to fade at all. I have these spots all over my cheeks. It's so gross.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm freaking out! Go away, pimples! Leave me alone, please! Let my skin be beautiful agian!

    I've Yet to Wear These...

Here are two dresses I got awhile ago from Guess. The first one is a knit dress that I thought would be perfect for winter... except who wears short sleeves in winter, right? The second I thought would look nice as a dressy dress... except I rarely go out. So... now I'm wondering, why did I buy these agian? The weather here in Melbourne, Australia is way too cold to be frolicking about in dresses! So it's another "opps" purchase from me... yet agian.

I Wish I Had Her Body!

I ladore all the Victoria's Secret angels but my fav would definately be Miranda Kerr. Not just because she is a fellow aussie! I've admired her ever since she won the DOLLY 1997 modelling competition. I remember being 12 and wanting to be just like her.

Let me tell you a little secret- I've always wanted to be a model. Since the age of 10 or 11, I think. I used to will myself to grow taller so that I could one day be plucked from the crowds of a busy shopping center and be "discovered". Sadly, I never grew past 5'5 (165cm) so my modelling dreams were shattered. But thinking about it now, I could never have been a model- I had bad teeth and skin!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've started a "diet" to lose some extra weight I've gained. I must admit, it's not going too well. I've been eating pretty much everything that pases my line of vision. That includes chocolate cake and honey roasted cashews. D'oh! So I thought I needed some encouragement to help me stick to healthy eating. That's where Miranda Kerr comes in. She is a little on the skinny side, but she has the physique I am after and I'm quick to put down the deep fried chicken when I think of her.

I'm not fat but I'm not where I want to be. I just want to lose the 4kg (9lbs) I've gained since last year and lose my little pot belly. My body shape is a bit like Miranda's when I'm really skinny, so it's not like I'm striving for something that's never gonna happen. I've been thin before, I'll be thin agian. Hopefully before Khem's birthday, so if she throws a party I'll look hot! Hi Khem! Hehehe!

I must try harder with this diet of mine!

Revlon Beyond Natural Cream to Powder Eyeshadow

I love neutral tones, I've always been a fan of the "no makeup" look. When I came across the Revlon Beyond Natural cream to powder eyeshadow in Plumberry Prune I fell in love with the shades and couldn't wait to try it out.

This is a very lightly pigmented product so you need to use a bit if you want to see some colour. I suppose it's because it starts out as a "cream" product, which supposedly should turn to powder upon application. For me, I don't think it truly becomes a powder but the result is smooth and it's easly blended. It tends to crease though, so a primer is a must!

I like it enough. I wouldn't use it for night time though. It's strictly a day product for me. You get nice, good natural eyes with this, and the colour blends seemlessly into each other as well as compliment one another. In the photos it doesn't look like much and you can't really tell I'm wearing eyeshadow but I'm going to post them anyway! The last photo was taken with light.

    Makeup Babble's Giveaway

Makeup Babble is having a giveaway! This is the first giveaway I have entered. And it's false lashes and false nails! Three lucky winners will get the prizes and it closes June 13th midnight PST. The prizes are two items I have never tried but would love to. I've always had trouble with doing a french manicure, for some reason it never turns out right. Either I'm too impatient and apply the pink coat before the white tip has time to dry or I apply too much pink and the white tip doesn't look so white. Maybe false is the way to go for me?

My sister told me she tried false lashes and loved it, so ever since she mentioned it I've been meaning to give them a try. I'm on a budget at the moment so I haven't actually done much shopping. I've never had the chance to make a purchase but because they're inexpensive, I'm hoping to pick up some falsies on Tuesday. I think I'll start with a cheaper brand before I move onto the heavy stuff.

Anyway I just wanted to mention the giveaway so check it out here if you're interested!

The First Day of my Diet

I have finally decided to do something about my weight. Currently I weight 60kgs (132lbs) which means that over the past 8 months I have managed to gain 4kgs (9lbs). It doesn't sound like a lot but do you know what a pound of fat looks like? It's not pretty. And there's 9 of those ugly yellow lumps all over my body! Yuck!

9lbs really does make a difference- my jeans are tighther, my belly is pudgy and my face is fuller. So I plan on losing the weight by watching what I eat and limiting the amount of fat I consume. Today, for breakfast I had a bowl of cereal (Nutrigrain, it was all we had) and two slices of watermelon. Typically what I have is two slices of buttered toast, cereal, yoghurt and a hot chocolate with marshmellows (I'm addicted to it!) So really, I usually eat more than my body needs. By limiting the amount of calories I consume I'm hoping to lose the weight quickly.

Of course, what diet is complete without exercise? I'm not a huge fan of it, but I will attempt to do some form of exercise everyday, or at least every other day. I don't have a lot of time on my hands because my 11 month old demands a lot of my attention so it's going to be hard but I'll work it out somehow.

Today for lunch I plan on having a burger from Grill'd. I know, I know. I should be nibbling on carrot sticks and what not if I want to lose weight, but that is so not me. Take away my food and I will eat more of it! But whereas before, I'd have the burger with chips, this time I'll go without. So you see, I am making some positive changes. The only problem I have will be to stick to my "diet"... my love of food tends to overcome my desire to lose weight. But hopefully, by blogging about it, I will be more inclined to stick to it. Wish me luck!

    My Love for Beauty

I've decided to start a blog about beauty. For over a year now I have been obsessed with fashion, beauty and all things girly. It might have hit me a little bit late, but better late than never! I've just turned 25 and I'm absolutely in love with makeup. To think I used to go out clubbing with just a little bit of eyeliner and gloss! Argh, what was I thinking?!

Make up was the last thing on my mind back in the days. You see, I was a new mum at 18 and I had a baby to care for. It's not that I didn't care about how I looked, it was just not so important for me to look my best. A baby will not love you more if you look hot. So I was always presentable, but not done up. I hardly went out anyway, so it didn't really matter how I looked. As long as I took care of my son as best as I could, I was happy with myself.

As my son got older I went out more and more. But like I said, I'd go clubbing with just lipgloss and eyeliner, thinking I looked fine. And I did. Everybody told me I looked great, regardless of my lack of made up face. So I just stuck with my natural beauty. It's so much simpler!

Fast forward to 2008. Slowly I was being more exposed to make up: my previous job, my love for magazines, celebs on TV, and even my sister. I was expecting my second baby and rather bored with daily life, so I started occupying myself by planning my outfits for outtings and how much make up I'd wear. It soon became an obsession and to this day, I'm hooked. Basically, I just want to make sure I look my best when I'm out in the real world!

So I'm going to start blogging about it all- my outfits, my make up, my body, everything. It doesn't matter if nobody reads this. My objective is to put it all out there so that one day, when I'm 65, I can look back and and say "ahh, the good old days!"
